K. Jeffrey Miller - bio

Dr. K. Jeffrey Miller is a native of Shelby County, Kentucky. He received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Chiropractic degrees from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1987. After graduation he completed postdoctoral orthopedic training through Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas. In 1993 Dr. Miller became the first chiropractic orthopedic specialist to practice full-time in the state of Kentucky and was youngest chiropractic orthopedist in the country. He is both a Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedist (DABCO) and a Fellow of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedist (FACO).

In 1997 Dr. Miller completed boards given by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) for designation as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He also holds personal trainer certifications with the NSCA and the American Council on Exercise. In 2002 he completed coursework and boards for the Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner (CCSP) program.

In 17 years of private practice Dr. Miller published more than 100 articles in 30 publications and wrote three books. Book titles include On-The-Job C.A.R.E. a manual on occupational health consulting, now in its third edition. Practical Assessment of the Chiropractic Patient (2002) and Practicing Chiropractic (2005) both published by MPA Media.

Since retiring from private practice Dr. Miller has published his fourth and fifth books; Stat Spinal Examination; How to Examine a Patient Who is Paralyzed by Spasm or Writhing in Pain published by Center Path Publishing 2006 and The Insurance Game; Winning the Battle for Reimbursement. The books were published by Center Path Publishing 2006 and Anabolic Laboratories 2007.

Three of the nation’s largest chiropractic colleges have appointed him to their postgraduate faculties as an instructor in orthopedics and occupational health. He was a feature speaker for over a decade for Kats Management Services (now Integrity Management) in Lincoln, Nebraska.

In 2002 Dr. Miller was honored by Business First Magazine as one of the top 40 business professionals in the Louisville Metropolitan Area under the age of 40 (the 40 under 40 award). From April 2005 to April 2007 Dr. Miller was an assistant professor of structure and function at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida.

Dr. Miller’s most recent project is a set of study flash cards published by Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins, Orthopedic and Neurological Examination in a Flash.  The cards cover 240 of the most useful orthopedic and neurological tests for day to day chiropractic practice.

Currently, Dr. Miller’s class Practical Assessment of the Patient, based on the text by the same name, is one of the most popular postgraduate courses in chiropractic. The seminar has been featured at over a dozen state conventions. Practical Assessment and Dr. Miller’s other seminars are also frequently sponsored by Anabolic Laboratories, Breakthrough Coaching and other organizations.

In May of 2007 Dr. Miller accepted the Chairmanship of The Department of Clinical Sciences at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Missouri. He left Cleveland in August of 2008 for a position in Roanoke, Virginia.

Miller and his wife Kim (named one of Kentucky’s five most phenomenal women in 2000 by the Louisville Courier-Journal) have four children.
